Westerunie is onderdeel van het Westergasterras, een serie oude gebouwen vlakbij de Gashouder in het Amsterdamse Westerpark. Ook al ligt het niet in het uitgaansgebied van het centrum, het is in korte tijd een zeer populaire club geworden. Dat komt ondermeer door de strak industriële inrichting, het rauwe
karakter en de brede programmering. Niet alleen de grote namen staan hier achter de draaitafels, maar ook de dj-sterren van morgen draaien in Westerunie voordat ze bij het grote publiek zijn doorgebroken. Voor de grote feesten worden de aangrenzende Westerliefde en Westregasterras ook gebruikt, waardoor de capaciteit wordt uitgebreid naar 1200 man.
